UNHARDENED FIBREBOARD
|
|
Regular and Static Control Versions
Convoy's least expensive material in unhardened (corrugated) fibreboard.
This is an excellent material where light loads and lighter handling are
involved. Unhardenend Fibreboard also makes a great shelf or carousel box.
They are available in assembled or knock-down versions.
However, do no confuse our boxes with flimsy, "thin-liner" corrugated
boxes. Unless otherwise requested, we use an incredibly though and thick 90#
liner (= to 350# test).
The assembled boxes are securely stapled or riveted throughout. Most
larger size unhardened boxes have "hidden" metal reinforcements over the
hand hole and at the box corners.
The material we use is recycled and can be recycled again after is useful
life is over. A Material Safety Data Sheet is available.
Many accessories are available: lids, partitions, card holders, paint,
safety coating, foam dunnage, silkscreening, rim reinforcement, box-bottom
reinforcement, doublewall version. |

The container material of the
90's and beyond
INVENTION
Invented by the Italians and Japanese in the late 1960's, Fluted Plastic
is a remarkable material. It is the only material we know that can provide a
box which is simultaneously large and light, yet still strong and affordable
- a seemingly impossible combination.
U.S. Introduction
Introduced into the U.S. by Convoy in 1970, we were, for a number of
years, the only producers of plastic corrugated boxes. Convoy now has 26
years of experience with Fluted Plastic, more than any other manufacturer.
With the adoption of Fluted Plastic by the U.S. Post Office, and later by
the auto makers, Fluted Plastic came into the mainstream corporate world.
Today Fluted Plastic is growing at a remarkable rate. |
SOLID FIBRE
|
|
Regular and Static Control Versions
Solid fibre is a tried and true material which has proven itself in
widespread industrial use over many decades. It is particularly known as a
tough handling box, as it resists impact well. Solid fibre boxes can be
shipped assembled or knock-down.
Solid fibre is a recycled, multiply, laminated fibreboard. Unlike
corrugated fibreboard, there are no flutes or air spaces inside the
material. (Most people know solid fibre as the material in returnable beer
bottle cased, the ones with hinging half-lids.)
Solid fibre thickness ranges from .060" to .120". The rod frames around
the top rim ranges from 3/16" to 1/4". Lighter-duty boxes have no rod frame.
Solid fibre is moisture resistant. It is made from recycled material and is
able to be recycled when no longer serviceable. Solid fibre is the least
combustible of our materialls as there are no air spaces (flutes) inside. In
addition to boxes, solid fibre makes very resilient partitions and dividers.
